the Fourth International Grassland Agriculture Conference (4th IGAC)
Dear colleagues and friends, ladies and gentlemen,
It is my great pleasure to invite you to attend the “Fourth International Grassland Agriculture Conference” (4th IGAC) to be held on September 25-27, 2018, Lanzhou, China.
Grassland is the largest territory ecosystem on the earth. Grassland based agriculture is one of the major production systems worldwide. It consists of pre-plant production (landscape production such as national park, turf etc), plant production, animal production and post-biological production (forage and livestock products processing, marketing, etc). Grassland agriculture plays an important role in food security and environment improvement all over the world. Grassland and arable land degradation, environmental pollution, food security and safety, water resources limitation, global change, and unbalanced development among regions and countries are the common challenges faced by the human being. Collaboration in grassland agricultural production and research is the effective way to improve the sustainable development.
This conference will be hosted by Lanzhou University, State Key Laboratory of Grassland Agro-ecosystems, and Key Laboratory of Grassland Livestock Industry Innovation, Ministry of Agriculture. The main scheme of the conference is “Sustainable Development of Grassland and Agriculture”. There are five sub schemes as the follows:
1. Forage germplasm resource utilization and innovation
2. Grassland biodiversity and ecosystem multifunction
3. Grassland agriculture and ecological security
4. Grassland-livestock interaction and food security
5. The sustainable development of grassland agriculture and society in the Belt and Road
The conference will build a platform for scientists, farmers and managers, policy makers, and graduate students from around the world to exchange ideas, progress in grassland agriculture.
